Maritime rescue operations escorted two Cayucos, carrying approximately 120 migrants, into the port of La Restinga (El Hierro) this morning, as reported by the national agency on Sunday.
Additionally, at 2:14 a.m. this Sunday, the Civil Guard reported detecting a radar echo, which could potentially indicate a Cayuco or Patera located 8 miles from La Restinga.
The Maritime Rescue Centre in Tenerife then activated the Salvamar Acrux, which arrived at the Cayuco at 3:00 a.m. and escorted it to port.
This vessel was thought to be carrying around 70 individuals from sub-Saharan regions.
Subsequently, around 6:24 a.m., the Civil Guard detected another radar echo, possibly another Cayuco or Patera, situated 8 miles from La Restinga.
The Salvamar Adhara was dispatched, arriving at the Cayuco at 7:00 a.m. and escorting it to the port.
Onboard this second Cayuco, there were approximately 50 migrants, a mix of individuals from the Maghreb and sub-Saharan areas.
