Santa Cruz de Tenerife 28 Feb. (Europa Press) –

The Plenary of the Cabildo de Tenerife has reached a consensus on an institutional motion whereby the Government of the Canary Islands is urged, via the Ministry of Health, to implement essential measures aimed at enhancing the healthcare system on the island of Tenerife, particularly concerning the hospital and primary care provided by the University Hospital of the Canary Islands (HUC).

This agreement encompasses a request for improved coordination between the Primary Care Management of Tenerife and the HUC Management, as well as the enhancement of the emergency service at the HUC by adding more personnel, particularly doctors and nurses.

Furthermore, there is a call to expedite the processes of stabilising the public employment offer to foster stable and transparent contracts within both hospital and primary care settings, as highlighted by the Tenerife council in a statement.

The Regional Executive is also encouraged to facilitate the hiring and undertaking of essential works necessitated by urgency or emergency to enhance the spaces and healthcare infrastructures required to cater to the needs expressed by the citizens of Tenerife, given that the current facilities have limitations for such care.

Lastly, the Agreement further urges the government of the Canary Islands to establish the necessary laws that ensure an increase in personnel and the hiring and execution of the necessary works to enable this to occur in the year 2025, accompanied by the needed credit modifications.
