Santa Cruz de Tenerife, 27th February. (Europa Press) –
Elizabeth Ledesma Laker, showcasing the theme “Connection”, designed by Alexis Santana and representing McDonald’s along with the local opinion of Tenerife, has been crowned queen of the Santa Cruz de Tenerife carnival for 2025 during a gala directed by Jep Meléndez. The event took place at the fairgrounds and attracted a full audience of 7,000 attendees.
The honourable mentions were awarded to Laura Fernández Ruiz, presenting “Drops of Sky”, designed by Sedomir Rodríguez on behalf of Dormitorum, as the first lady of honour; Marta Pérez Baute, with “The Sky and You”, from Santi Castro representing the Añaza Carrefour shopping centre, as the second lady of honour; Ainhoa Díaz Sánchez, displaying the creation “La Fontaine” by designer Juan Carlos Armas, on behalf of the Alcampo La Laguna Shopping Centre, as the third lady of honour; and finally, Michelle Castro Adrián with “Origin”, designed by Jorge González Santana, representing Mediterranean Broker Insurance Brokers.
The gala, themed “The Secrets of Africa”, lasted two and a half hours and was held in a fully occupied fairground, which was particularly animated during the candidate procession. The event was hosted by Lara Álvarez and Alexis Hernández, who described the evening as “extremely exciting and rich with references to the African continent while maintaining the utmost respect for its culture”.
The jury that crowned the new queen and her four ladies of honour comprised Alejandro Palomo, creator of the Palomo Spain brand; María Escoté, fashion designer; Maya Hansen, a Spanish designer renowned for high-quality corsets; Marianela Hernández (Marilyn’s Closet), creator of Canarian content; and Alberto Trujillo, a prominent set designer for various carnivals across the Canary Islands.
Additionally, the jury included David and Miguel López, designers from the firm Davide Leotards; Agustín Rubiales, former president of the Culture Classroom of the Carnival of Cádiz, honoured son of the city, hospital gentleman, and a symbol of solidarity and harmony in Andalusia; Lourdes Santana, Regional Director of Cadena Ser; Miguel Paule, Medical Director of Clinic Paule; and Verónica Rodríguez, Queen of the Venezuelan Canary Hogar 2025.
Televisión Canaria broadcast the event live to the entire archipelago, while TVE presented it live for all of Spain via channel 2. The coverage was further enhanced with a transmission from the Spanish International Television Canal.
