Santa Cruz de Tenerife 25 Feb. (Europa Press) –
The Vice President and Economy Minister of the Government of the Canary Islands, Manuel Domínguez (PP), on Tuesday declined to comment on the allegations made by businessman Víctor de Aldama against the Minister of Territorial Policy, Ángel Víctor Torres, suggesting they fall within his personal life.
“If he has visited a flat, there,” he replied to a question from the socialist group during the Plenary control session of Parliament regarding Aldama’s claims that Torres utilised an apartment in Madrid, financed by the ‘Koldo plot’, for meetings with prostitutes.
He stated that Torres is free to lead his life “as he pleases”, just like everyone else, as “each person must seek happiness in their own way”, emphasising that it is not “for anyone to judge where he has been or not been.”
Domínguez acknowledged that this is the “first time” accusations related to the flats in Madrid have been mentioned in the context of this inquiry from the socialists, clearly expressing that he does not concern himself with Torres’s personal affairs, unless he is using “money from the Canary Islands.”
He specified that he would “never” delve into the “personal matters of others” and merely called for “transparency and integrity” from the socialists, commenting on the president of the socialist group, Nira Fierro, who during the last legislative term “disseminated” videos “knowing they were false.”
He also reproached the Socialists for tarnishing the image of the Canary Islands with incidents such as “Tito Berni,” the purchase of fake masks for four million euros, or developments surrounding the ‘Koldo case.’
“If I did not believe in integrity and transparency, I would be aligned with the Socialist Party,” he added, while ironically referencing the “loyalty” he claims to provide to his “leader”, as Torres could face similar consequences for being an “adult” by Pedro Sánchez.
Fierro insisted on the need for “respect” from institutions, politics, and individuals “and in no circumstance should the boundary between politics and personal matters be crossed,” as despite Torres’s denial of the meetings with “ladies”—backed by flight tickets proving his absence from Madrid—there are “party colleagues” of Domínguez who are “echoing” information in that regard.
He condemned the “past allegations” of the PP leaders who continue to heed the accusations of a “confessed criminal” such as Victor de Aldama.
“I must urge him to tell his party colleagues to cease propagating the lies of a confessed criminal regarding an honest, trustworthy, and exemplary individual like Mr. Ángel Víctor Torres, or else, Flaco, Flaw, they will be damaging Canarian politics,” he stated.
