Five Arrested at Tenerife Sur Airport for Passport Forgery

At the start of February, the National Police apprehended five individuals of Albanian and Iraqi nationality at Tenerife Sur airport for attempting to travel with counterfeit documents from Greece, Italy, the Netherlands, and Denmark to the United Kingdom and Ireland.

The initial detainee, whose date was not disclosed by the Police, was an Albanian national who attempted to travel to Dublin (Ireland) using forged documents from Greece, as detailed by the National Police on Monday.

The following day, an Iraqi woman was detained while preparing to fly to London using falsified documents from the Netherlands.

A few hours later, an Albanian national was apprehended as he sought to board a flight to Dublin with counterfeit documents from Italy. Finally, the subsequent day, authorities arrested two Iraqi men, refugees in Greece, who intended to travel to London with forged documents from Denmark.

The five individuals are now at the disposal of the judicial authority, with four of them facing charges of document forgery and one for an alleged offence of identity fraud.

The National Police is continuing its investigation to ascertain if any additional parties are implicated in these events and to dismantle any potential illicit human trafficking networks, the statement added.
