Santa Cruz de Tenerife, 20 Feb. (Europa Press) –

The College of Property Administrators in Santa Cruz de Tenerife has initiated an awareness campaign for the third consecutive year, focusing on enjoying the street carnival with a series of posters that promote “restraint and consideration” towards people and property.

Through this initiative, property administrators aim to encourage a “reflection” on the effects of the carnival celebrations, both day and night, in the streets.

The organisation mentions in a statement that while it “shares in the festivities,” it also appreciates the concerns of the residents who endure the disturbances caused by the throngs of revellers during this period in the city.

This year, an iconic scene from ‘The Lion King’ is featured, showcasing Rafiki lifting the carnival sardine alongside the slogan ‘We are tribe’. This refers to this year’s theme (Africa) and connects it to the sector encompassing buildings and owners’ communities.

Furthermore, it broadly represents everything that aligns with their values of respect and the safeguarding of the ‘tribe’ and the community.

“If it takes the entire tribe to educate, as the African proverb states, we require the cooperation of all residents and visitors to ensure that the carnival remains a safe environment, respectful of everyone and both public and private properties,” the foundation emphasises.

As in previous years, a clear message is communicated, urging the use of public toilets and discouraging urination on streets and doorways; avoiding damage to doors and gardens of properties; and respecting individual ownership, particularly in buildings and communities where vandalism is unacceptable.

Additionally, they call upon all citizens to refrain from prolonging the festivities in residential areas until dawn or engaging in disruptive behaviour in the mornings.

According to Luis García González, president of CAF Tenerife, “the Carnival of Santa Cruz de Tenerife embodies our culture, our identity, and the connection that unites us as a community; we cannot permit its magic to fade away. For this reason, we advocate this message of joy and respect for our traditions, ensuring that the carnival continues to shine as an exemplar amidst the grand festivities across the country.”
