Santa Cruz de Tenerife 18 Feb. (Europa Press) –
The National Police will implement an extensive security operation involving around 600 officers aimed at ensuring the safety of the public and facilitating the smooth conduct of the carnivals in Tenerife without significant incidents.
This operation will be present in all locations where carnival activities occur, as well as in the venues hosting various competitions and galas.
For this purpose, specialised units will take part in the initiative, collaborating with the local police of Santa Cruz de Tenerife and the General Corps of the Canarian Police.
The Special Operation will include units such as Police Intervention Units (UIP), Prevention and Reaction Units (UPR), Subso’s Unit, Canine Units, Helicopters from the Canary Police Headquarters, and Drone and Anti-Drone Systems Equipment.
The primary aim will be to prevent crimes, disturbances of public order, and to implement the anti-terrorism prevention and protection strategy.
Consequently, police presence will be established in all areas with high public attendance, particularly in locations with significant crowds, featuring both uniformed and plainclothes officers patrolling the most contentious spots for immediate intervention if required.
Additionally, the citizen complaint and assistance offices in Santa Cruz de Tenerife will be reinforced, and specific checks will be established on maritime routes between Las Palmas, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, and La Palma.
The aim is to monitor movements and deter the trafficking of prohibited substances or other illegal activities, as detailed in a statement from the National Police.
To enhance the security of the airspace over Santa Cruz de Tenerife, the National Police will deploy Drones and Anti-Drone systems to detect and neutralise potential threats.
