The wind will blow moderately from the Northeast, easing during the latter part of the day.

Madrid/Santa Cruz de Tenerife, 15th February (Europa Press) –

The Canary Islands will experience a day characterised by mostly clear skies, with some evolving clouds in the interior regions of the mountainous islands during the afternoon, more pronounced in the western province.

Temperatures will see a slight decline, particularly the maximums. In the high peaks, there will be minor increases. Thus, the thermometers will show maximums of 20 degrees in the provincial capitals, Santa Cruz de Tenerife and Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, and minimums of 10 degrees on the island of El Hierro.

Additionally, the wind will blow moderately from the Northeast, easing during the latter half of the day, thus establishing the Brisas regime in the Western Islands.

Nationwide Forecast

In the Peninsula, stability and spring-like temperatures will prevail, reaching up to 20ºC, as reported by the State Meteorology Agency (Aemet). However, it has cautioned about the arrival of an Atlantic Cold Front that may lead to cloudy skies and light rainfall in Galicia and the Western Cantabrian.

Furthermore, the agency has noted that occasional precipitation could occur in parts of Western Andalusia and Melilla, while there is also the potential for snowfall in the mountains, roughly at altitudes between 1800 to 2000 metres.

Despite this, they expect mostly clear skies or a tendency towards clear weather.

On another note, fog and morning mists are expected in the Ebro and the depressions of the northeast Peninsula, which could be dense and persistent in the morning; similar conditions could also affect the northwestern region at the forefront of the front and in the Balearic Islands in the morning.

Regarding temperatures, Aemet has pointed out that maximums will likely increase in the southwest, northeast region, Mediterranean areas, and significantly on the northeastern façade of the Peninsula—Murcia may reach 24ºC—while there will be a decline in the Canary Islands, Cantabrian region, and the Guadalquivir Valley and surroundings, although temperatures will remain close to 20ºC in these areas.

Conversely, the minimum temperatures are expected to rise overall or will scarcely change, as declines will only occur in the Canary Islands and the northwestern part of the Peninsula. Frost is anticipated in the Pyrenees, as well as locally in other mountain areas in the northern half and certain locations on the northern plateau.

With respect to the winds, the agency has predicted that southern components will prevail in the Peninsula initially, transitioning to westerly components as the front passes. Regardless, these will generally be light winds, with moderate intervals along the north and south coastlines.

In the island territories, a gentle wind from the south is expected in the Balearic Islands, while moderate north component winds are forecasted in the Canary Islands, where occasional strong intervals may occur initially, transitioning to lighter Alisio winds, while they will remain light in the Western Islands.
