Santa Cruz de Tenerife, 15 Feb. (Europa Press) –

The Tenerife Film Commission (TFC) has announced that it currently collaborates with 80 companies within the audiovisual sector, celebrating their contributions with an overview of 145 productions carried out on the island in 2024 and an investment of 65 million euros.

In this regard, the Cabildo de Tenerife has underscored the “crucial” function of this department in achieving these outcomes, as its efforts are focused on showcasing the island “as a setting for feature films, fiction series, documentaries, and short films, alongside the development and production of films and animated series,” according to a press release.

Consequently, approximately 150 professionals from the local industry were involved in this initiative in 2024.

According to Lope Afonso, Vice President and Tourism Councillor of the Cabildo de Tenerife, the number of jobs created from this activity continues to rise. “This is a sector that is consistently expanding, which we must support; it helps us diversify our economy and brings substantial profitability to our destination,” he stated.

Furthermore, Dimple Melwani, the CEO of Tourism of Tenerife, explained that this Tourism Department not only secures filming opportunities but also aids in locating both public and private venues for use.

Additionally, he noted that the department provides guidance and support in obtaining filming permits, mediates between various agencies and companies, advises on sustainability standards for filming, organises specialised training courses for different professional profiles, and participates in national and international markets and industry events.

Associated Members and Activity Overview

Over 80 companies affiliated with Tenerife Film Commission regularly engage in local, national, and international productions based on the information from El Cabildo.

Beyond producers or service providers, the companies include VFX studios, digital imaging laboratories, sound and production materials, equipment rentals, lighting, machinery, hotels, catering, and logistics.

In 2024, new partners associated with the TFC included Palma Niru Films, Mojo Films, Palma Pictures, Kinolux Canarias, Flaming Frames, Sunnysideup, Botanist Hotel, Sholeo Lodges Los Gigantes, Hotel Barceló Tenerife, Cars Plaza, Rims Mobility, and Jesús Rodríguez Group.

As part of its location scouting efforts, the Film Commission conducted 6 location visits to the island last year, one of which led to the filming of a project.

Furthermore, it organised 6 familiarisation trips to Tenerife for responsible production companies, with a collective total of 135 participants.

The TFC also took part in and collaborated on numerous events and festivals in 2024. In Tenerife, it was present at the Quirino Awards for Ibero-American Animation, sponsored by Tourism of Tenerife, as well as at Ficmec, Ciif Market, Calavera Island, and Islabentura Canarias.

Internationally, it attended 11 events, including Cannes Lions, Manía Series, Shooting Location Marketplace, Mipcom, San Sebastián, Mifa, and Kidscreen Festival, resulting in a total of 109 meetings with industry representatives.

In terms of education, the TFC organised eight training workshops, which welcomed 145 students in total.
