TRADPARES Triumphs in Santa Cruz de Tenerife Carnaval Murgas Contest

Trapaseros has secured the top performance accolade in the Murgas contest during the Carnival of Santa Cruz de Tenerife 2025, with Bambones taking the second prize and Heronic finishing third. The jury also acknowledged Mamelucos with an accésit.

In terms of presentation, the jury awarded the first prize to Bambones, followed by raids and Mamelucos claiming the second and third prizes, respectively. This information was reported by the Tenerife City Council in a statement on Saturday.

Approximately 7,000 individuals were thrilled at the Tenerife Fairgrounds during the Grand Final of the Murgas Contest of the Carnival of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, featuring eight critical groups in total.

The event commenced with a performance from Nifú-Nifá Afilamonic, who participated out of competition, paving the way for the subsequent acts by Sonora, Zeta Zetas, Ironicos, Chaladas, Guachinquiestas, Trapaseros, Bambones, and Mamelucos, presented in that order.

The interpretation panel included Andrés Fulgencio Estévez, a musician and composer formerly part of notable Tenerife orchestras and a member of the General Society of Authors of Spain (SGAE); Manoly Triviño, an educator and conductor of children’s choirs in Santa Cruz de Tenerife; Rocío González, a music educator and percussionist; Marlene Meneses, a journalist; Ivo López, the presenter for CD Tenerife; musician Sergio Branic; comedian Jéssika Rojano; and José Antonio González ‘El Flaco’, the director of Murga Los Singuangos and the Rondalla Peña on Monday.

The jury also comprised Patricia Hodgson, a Fine Arts graduate, Claudia Rebeca, a visual artist, and Laura Sánchez, who focuses on costume design and shows in film.
