At least eight wild dogs have commenced attacking livestock in Trevejos, Ifonche, and La Escalona, raising significant concerns across the municipality of Vilaflor.

The assaults, which have persisted for a month, have resulted in the deaths of multiple goats, sheep, and chickens. Furthermore, they have heightened worries for the safety of both locals and tourists using the nearby trails, as reported by the digital platform South of the South Tenerife.

Residents in the area have reported a disturbing rise in attacks from a pack of dogs, with one individual who owns a farm in Trevejos even setting traps to apprehend the dogs.

The local community has called for assistance from the City Council of Vilaflor. However, managing this issue rests with the Nature Protection Service (SEPRONA) of the Civil Guard, which is responsible for capturing animals.

This situation has fostered a climate of alarm, as both tourists and residents express increasing trepidation about potential attacks while traversing the area’s pathways.

The Councillor for Animal Welfare and the Mayor, Agustina Beltrán, have visited the farms impacted by these incidents. At this point, the City Council has indicated that “work is underway to address the issue.”

Background in Tacoronte

For the past month, another PACK OF DOGS, numbering 15 canines, has posed a threat in Hoya de Manzaneros, close to the recreational area LoMo la Jara, within the municipality of Tacoronte.

Reports of these dogs attacking both other animals and humans have surfaced over the past few months, including incidents where they have entered residential gardens and livestock farms.
