The City of Puerto de la Cruz, in conjunction with the Canary Islands government, has declared that Playa Jardín will be reopening for bathing in six months. Following discussions with the technicians, it has been confirmed that the construction of the treatment plant in Valle de La Orotava will be completed in the upcoming months, and that the works on the Emisario de Punta Brava are significantly advanced, as reported by TVC.

This summer marks one year since the closure of this highly frequented bathing zone in Puerto de la Cruz, which was shut down due to a failure in the underwater outfall that led to spillages. There is also an ongoing investigation into whether some of these wastewater discharges originate from other sources.

The Government of the Canary Islands, the Cabildo de Tenerife, and the Puerto de la Cruz City Council are collaborating to resolve these discharges.

Moreover, the reopening of the beach is crucial for both local residents and businesses, who have experienced financial setbacks due to its closure.
