The derby only has one color

SPAR Gran Canaria beat Tenerife in the derby with a spectacular result that ended a bad run of results (84-42). The squad led by José Carlos Ramos ended their six-game drought by losing, mercilessly beating a weakened Tenerife that sinks to the bottom of the standings. From the first quarter the superiority of Gran Canaria was evident, where Koné and Caldwell with 19 and 12 points respectively were the top scorers.

After 46 seconds of play, Nesbitt opened the scoring with a jump shot, although it didn’t take long for Pina to equalize (2-2). The SPAR Gran Canaria, more dangerous in offensive plays, distanced themselves in a matter of seconds with baskets from Giomi and Nesbitt, causing the Tenerife team to call a timeout after Koné scored to leave the distance at six points (8-2).

Koné was very active scoring and assisting Nesbitt to leave the income in eight points (12-4). As the minutes passed, the distance between the two teams only grew, reaching its peak with a shot by Caldwell that left the difference by 16 points (20-4). A free kick from Tolosa broke a Tenerife drought of five minutes without scoring. (20-5).

A triple by Caldwell a few seconds into the second quarter hinted at what would be the next few minutes, where SPAR Gran Canaria achieved a 20-point lead after a jump shot by de Koné (25-5). After three minutes, Pina scored the first two points for Tenerife in the fourth from the free kick, but the Gran Canaria were only distancing themselves on the scoreboard (30-7). The Tenerife team improved their offensive rhythm, but were not able to stop the frenzy in attack of a very successful SPAR Gran Canaria, who got to 26 points after a basket by Caldwell (42-16). Hruscakova closed the gap, but Nesbitt scored the last basket before the break to conclude a spectacular second quarter for José Carlos Ramos’ team (44-18).

Day more than resolved

Although already with an almost insurmountable distance, Tenerife improved their performance in a third quarter that began with a triple by Pina (44-21). SPAR Gran Canaria, perhaps more relaxed than in the previous minutes due to their comfortable position in the match, slowed down their scoring pace but continued to score points (56-28). Koné and Giomi were the most outstanding players in the local team and precisely with a basket from the latter the quarter closed with a difference of 32 points (62-30). The last quarter only served to increase the advantage on the scoreboard of SPAR Gran Canaria and leave the difference in an impressive 42 points, double those scored by the Tenerife (84-42).
