The president of the Government of the Canary Islands and National Secretary of CC, Fernando Clavijo, is scheduled to meet on Wednesday, February 12, with the First Vice President of the Government of Spain and Minister of Finance, María Jesús Montero, to assess “how it is complying with” the Canarian agenda. Additionally, they will discuss the funding for the future relocation of 4,400 migrants from the Canary Islands and Ceuta.
In statements to the media, Clavijo revealed the details of the meeting shortly before the commencement of the debate that the Canarian coalition conducts with the members of the nationalist training in Fuerteventura, prior to the VIII National Congress.
When asked about the PP’s opposition at the national level concerning the criteria for the timely distribution of unaccompanied minor migrants, which were agreed upon between the Canarian Executive and the Ministry of Childhood and Youth of the Canarian Government, Clavijo emphasised “the Canarian way” of approaching matters in the islands “contrary to the clamor” within which, he claims, the policies from Madrid are ensconced.
He further highlighted the “bravery” of the vice president of the Canarian government and president of the PP of the Canary Islands, Manuel Domínguez, for standing with the islands in this issue, stressing that here in the Canary Islands “there are children in a dire predicament” who are not receiving the services they are entitled to, which is “the driving force behind the actions of Canarian institutions.”
