Extra $2 Million Allocated for Industrial Estate Upgrades

The Cabildo has allocated an additional two million euros to the Valle de Güímar Industrial estate, this time for the development of environmental enhancement and rehabilitation initiatives. These initiatives are part of the Insular Programme for the Improvement of Industrial Estates in Tenerife. Yesterday, the vice president and the insular advisor of Industry, Lope Afonso and Manuel Fernández, visited the complex in the Southwest.

The projected investment by the Cabildo in this industrial park surpasses two million euros, which will facilitate the adaptation of landscaping, roads, and sidewalks; promote the enhancement of external lighting in the estate, establish charging stations for vehicles, rehabilitate the surface and upgrade the signage, and improve the drainage networks among various other projects.

Lope Afonso expressed that the island government “is firmly committed to the industrial sector, as industry is a vital instrument for the diversification of the economy and for generating more stable and high-quality employment.” In this regard, “making progress in this area is one of our aspirations at the Cabildo.” He noted that it is during this term that the Cabildo has its first Ministry of Industry, “which underscores the roadmap we are setting out for implementing active policies in the secondary sector.”

The investment by the Cabildo in rejuvenating the Valle de Güímar estate aims to “address the neglect it has experienced thus far”, for which “we have initiated a collaboration agreement with Arafo, Güímar, and Candelaria.”

Manuel Fernández, the Insular Counsellor for Industry, highlighted that “the actions we undertake, in agreement with the businesses operating here, are part of the Insular Programme for the enhancement of industrial estates and reaffirm our commitment to a competitive and sustainable industrial model for Tenerife.”

Fernández pointed out that the works taking place within this industrial infrastructure “are the first to be executed in the past decade and are entirely funded by the island institution.” He announced that “upon completion of the works, we will promote the establishment of a conservation entity responsible for the maintenance of all areas within this estate.”
