The Arona Local Police has confirmed a theft that transpired near Las Burras Beach in close proximity to the Red Cross Office of the municipality. As per police reports, the victim, a French tourist, was approached by a group of individuals during the night.

The man managed to evade his attackers, though he ended up losing a majority of his possessions. He only retained his wallet and personal documents, while being almost entirely stripped of his clothing. Without immediate means of communication, he spent the night before dawn broke, allowing him to contact the local police to report the theft of his mobile phone.

Police sources, who spoke exclusively to South Sun, characterised the tourist as well-mannered and amiable, stating that he had been victimised by “unscrupulous individuals” operating along the coastal stretch between Las Burras Beach and the Punta Rasca lighthouse.

The authorities have advised the Arona City Council to install informative posters in the vicinity to alert visitors about the necessity of exercising heightened caution, a measure already employed in several international tourist hotspots. “Security must be a primary concern,” asserted the consulted source, highlighting the need to enhance surveillance efforts to mitigate the rise in crime in the area.

The tourist required evacuation, being carried by Local Police personnel after sustaining injuries to his feet as a result of his escape.

This incident has raised alarm among residents, who have reported similar instances of violence and vandalism.

Security forces have reiterated the importance of tackling the issue in a collaborative manner, with the goal of ensuring the safety of both visitors and the local community in Arona.
