The Queen of the Carnival of Santa Cruz de Tenerife will be celebrated on February 26 at the Fairgrounds in the capital of Tenerife, hosted by Spanish presenter Lara Álvarez and journalist Alexis Hernández, as announced by the City Council this Friday.

In an official statement, the Council highlighted that the Teniente Francisco Grandi Giraud promenade hosted the opening ceremony of the Carnival of Santa Cruz de Tenerife 2025, which is themed “the secrets of Africa”. This event also included the draw for the order of participation for the queen candidates in their three categories.

Thus, the 34 carnival queen candidates discovered their performance order during the show, which commenced at 9:30 p.m. with a performance by artist Marieme Abdouye, alongside the reigning queens from the 2024 edition.

Wendy Fuentes once again hosted this inaugural event in the capital, a presentation led by Jep Meléndez, broadcast live on Canarian television across the archipelago. Approximately a thousand attendees gathered in person to enjoy this kickoff of the iconic Chicharrera celebration.

The ceremony unfolded seamlessly along the Teniente Francisco Grandi Giraud walkway, where the presenters for various acts of this edition, dedicated to the neighbouring continent, were announced. This marked the start of the most internationally renowned festival in Santa Cruz, featuring performances by Afrocanarian artists and the dance troupes from the Chicharrero Carnival.

Additionally, presenter and journalist Alexis Hernández confirmed that the national television journalist Lara Álvarez will co-host the FEBRUARY QUEEN GALA alongside him.
