Teide Eruption | Thus all eruptions in Tenerife have occurred: every 100 years on average

На Tenerife, the Teide volcano has been renowned for its periodic eruptions throughout history. Evidence of such volcanic activity dates back to at least the 15th century, revealing that eruptions have been recorded approximately every century.

The most significant eruption occurred in 1706, devastating the town and port of Garachico, which was then a thriving area. This catastrophic event is remembered as one of the most impactful volcanic incidents in Tenerife’s history.

Throughout the years, there have been numerous eruptions of varying intensity, but the interval between them remains consistent, averaging about 100 years. Understanding this volcanic pattern is crucial for both residents and visitors. Awareness of the Teide’s eruptive history serves as an important reminder of the natural power of our planet.

In summary, the Teide has demonstrated remarkable stability in its eruptive frequency, providing insight into the behaviour of the volcano and the geological characteristics of the region.
