On Sunday, January 26, 2025, La Matanza de Acentejo celebrated a vibrant day of festivities in honour of San Antonio Abad, held in the neighbourhood of the same name. Approximately 2,000 individuals, as estimated by the local council, along with about a hundred livestock farmers, revelled in one of the most significant displays of cattle, horses, goats, and sheep in Tenerife. This event highlighted not only the deep-rooted traditions of the primary sector and livestock farming within the municipality but also showcased a generational transition, particularly among the children and grandchildren of many participants. Numerous young boys and girls were also present, attending the exhibition, the mass, and the procession for the saint. In total, around 650 livestock were showcased, comprising 93 horses, 417 goats, 102 cows, and 40 sheep.
