The Department of Public Works, Housing and Mobility of the Government of the Canary Islands, via the Canary Islands Housing Institute (ICAVI), has revealed the approval of the proposal for the award of the contracting committee for the drafting of the fundamental project and execution of 59 publicly promoted residences in Granadilla de Abona, in Tenerife.

The initiative encompasses the construction of the residences alongside the preparation of subsidiary projects related to electrical systems, fire protection mechanisms, heating systems, plumbing, sanitation and telecommunications.

Moreover, the management of construction and health and safety oversight are included throughout the execution phase.

The overall investment reaches 340,260 euros, including IGIC, allocated across two lots, as specified by the Ministry in a statement.

The first lot, corresponding to the Cuevas de Cho Portada site, where 47 dwellings will be erected, has been awarded to the firm David Miguel Navas for a sum of 254,660 euros.

On the other hand, the enterprise Asier Centol Ruiz will undertake the work on the second lot allocated for the Poncela site, which will accommodate 12 homes, for a total of 85,600 euros.

As part of the Canary Islands Housing Plan, the Ministry has three initiatives currently in progress.

Firstly, 65 properties are in development in La Orotava, the drafting of the construction project for 17 publicly promoted protected residences in El Sauzal, and the building of 11 publicly promoted protected homes in La Jurada, Granadilla de Abona.

Additionally, the public entity Visocan is constructing 100 residences in Santa Cruz, 7 in La Orotava, and 52 in Icod de los Vinos.

Utilising EU Next Generation funds, ICAVI has assigned the drafting of the execution project for 60 homes in Arona, 45 in Adeje, and 24 in Guía de Isora.

Furthermore, the Ministry has allocated 2,174,975.63 euros to the Municipal Society of Housing and Services of San Cristóbal de La Laguna (Muvisa) for the purchase of 56 residences.

All housing initiatives in the Canary Islands are conducted within the framework of the +VICAN initiative, designed to enhance and synchronise housing policies within the archipelago.

The principal aim of this strategy is to deliver a holistic response to the housing crisis through the execution of sustainable and inclusive solutions.

This programme aspires to ensure access to adequate housing, prioritise the most vulnerable demographics, and foster balanced territorial development tailored to the contemporary needs of the Canarian populace.
