Incidents involving gunfire and beehives form the basis of the arguments put forth by the relevant authorities – the regional council of Ecological Transition and the Cabildo de Tenerife – to halt the proposed ratification of the new Master Plan for Use and Management (PRUG) of Teide National Park, which marks its 71st anniversary since its establishment in 1954 today. The regional councillor, Mariano Zapata, acknowledged at the end of December that the document had been “finalised” and submitted since October. However, the island president, Rosa Dávila, specified yesterday that they are currently in the process of “refining details” before finalising the text and presenting it for approval to the Park Board.
