More for Arona rejects the claims made by the mayor, describing them as “simple, financially motivated, politically biased”, along with being “a very serious mistake”, “opportunistic”, and “far-fetched.” Their spokesperson, Dácil León, emphasised that “CC and PP have facilitated the entry of the far right, with the dangers it poses to the advancement of the municipality, undermining social, cultural, and equality policies,” referring to the integration of Vox into the governing team.

Complaints of “strict control of institutional communication by the Mayor’s Office and the evident bias in it, the management of human resources within municipal priorities, and predominantly, the mayor’s interference in the areas governed by CC, especially those managed by Más por Arona” were raised during governmental meetings, as noted by León.

“Canarian Coalition could have achieved much more but opted not to”

In her view, “CC could have done significantly more but chose not to” in order to avert Más por Arona’s departure from the local government. She described their “position” as “cowardly, straightforward, and utterly insensitive.” In the ousting, “party interests take precedence.”

The councillor Luis Garcia maintained that “We have not been the ones failing to adhere to” the governance agreement among PP, CC, and Más por Arona. He cited as an example a “very serious issue” the lack of attendance at government meetings “due to not approving specific projects.”

No explanation provided

The individual who was the Urban Planning councillor until Wednesday stated “I’m still in disbelief” because “I can’t comprehend anything” and “The response we received was exceedingly simplistic” with “no justification provided to me.” “There apparently wasn’t an issue,” the councillor reflected. “The mayor, who benefitted from our group for a year and a half, claims we were ineffective and lacking in support,” García added.

He acknowledged the presence of differences during management and expressed surprise at the outcome of a supposed CC poll that indicates a majority for Más por Arona, suggesting this may be a genuine reason for her exit from the municipal government.

Both Dácil León and Luis García affirmed that MxA will engage in constructive opposition and endorse projects and proposals that are advantageous for the municipality. They confirmed that constituents have communicated their support for the work they accomplished.
