The Cabildo of Tenerife is set to reopen trail number 10 Telesforo Bravo this Friday, granting access to the summit of Teide after enhancing safety measures.
Nonetheless, the restriction on accessing trail number 7 Montaña Blanca-Pico Teide, and trail number 11 Mirador de La Fortaleza remains in place due to the hazards posed by ice and snow.
This prohibition will not impact registered mountain enthusiasts who possess the essential winter equipment – technical attire, crampons, and ice axes – and who additionally provide a competency certification issued by the relevant federations, which must be presented to control staff.
Furthermore, they must register on the Tenerife ON app or website, as indicated by a statement from the Cabildo.
Additionally, the ban will not apply to licensed active tourism companies operating legally within the Teide National Park that employ guides possessing the necessary qualifications (mid-mountain sports technician or higher, or an equivalent professional accreditation) to navigate snowy landscapes, equipped with the fundamental winter gear (technical clothing, crampons, and ice axe).
These companies must also register on the Tenerife ON app or website.
