The Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council, through the Department of Mobility and Universal Accessibility, led by Councillor Evelyn Alonso, announces that due to rehabilitation works on bridges B and C of the Santos ravine, which are set to commence this coming Monday on the surface, there will be alterations to road traffic in the entry and exit lanes from the roundabout at the Tax authorities up to just before the entrance to the tunnel leading to Francisco La Roche Avenue to facilitate the ongoing works.
Due to the urgent repairs on the mentioned bridges, starting next Monday, January 13, and continuing until the end of summer, adjustments will be made to the traffic entering the city from the roundabout at the intersection of San Sebastián Avenue and Marítima Avenue. This will affect a stretch of approximately 200 meters where the usual four lanes of Marítima Avenue will be non-operational, reducing the flow to two lanes exiting and one lane entering the city from January 13, with proper signage both horizontally and vertically.
Furthermore, these alterations necessitate the creation of pedestrian space on the seaward side of the detour, thus prohibiting the circulation of bicycles and scooters. A walking path will still be available on the side closer to the Hacienda area, ensuring pedestrian safety. Additionally, the traditional bus stop for departures from the city will be relocated from the Hacienda to the Mapfre building.
The Mobility department requests that drivers and pedestrians adhere to the signage and, when necessary, comply with the directions of local police officers. They express gratitude in advance for the understanding of any inconvenience that may arise during the execution of these essential surface works, which are vital for the structural integrity and refurbishment of the bridges at the mouth of the Santos ravine, a crucial entry and exit route for the significant daily flow of vehicles.
