Zapata Advocates for Güímar’s Hydropumping Plant Development

Mariano Hernández Zapata, the Minister of Ecological Transition and Energy for the Canary Islands government, has confirmed his plans to establish a hydropumping facility in the Güímar sand pits, situated in Tenerife. This site has been the focus of illegal aggregate extraction for almost two decades. The well-known official, in comments to the press, expressed that its location in this region would be “fantastic news,” although he noted that “significant steps are still necessary” for its realisation.
