The Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council, through its Mobility department, announced on Monday that the rental of the 646 electric scooters provided by the sole remaining company in the capital, Dott, following TIER Mobility’s withdrawal, will continue to be free for locals after the acquisition of the service.
“We will diligently monitor how the demand for scooters develops in this new scenario, which can always be addressed by permitting the next company that ranked third during the concession process,” stated the mayor, José Manuel Bermúdez, in a communiqué.
Regarding the resident fee exemption, Dott specifies that individuals must complete their personal details at https://ridedott.retool.com/p/my-application-tenerife. Once the form is submitted, if the user’s ID is found in the database provided by the Santa Cruz City Council, they will receive a discount code via email within 48 to 72 hours.
After acquiring the code, the user should navigate to the Dott application, go to the ‘Promotions’ section, and input the code sent to their registered email address.
Nevertheless, the company clarifies that the resident discount does not exempt the user from any penalties for failing to park correctly or adhere to traffic regulations.
