The Council, through the area of Sustainability and Fight Against Climate Change, has the comedian Darío López, from Palante Producciones, to “give voice” to waste containers. The objective of the campaign on social networks and with five videos, one every 15 days, is to raise awareness about the importance of separating at source. “In the global strategy on waste management, awareness and information play a fundamental role”, explains the counselor Javier Rodríguez Medina. The intention, he points out, is “to reach the population directly and achieve greater involvement in reducing waste, as well as in reuse and separation for recycling.” For this reason, he adds, “we have resorted to the creativity of Darío López.”
This campaign was born, the counselor values, “because the island has the challenge of abandoning a scenario of more than three decades that needs immediate reversal: 600,000 tons of waste are generated per year and almost 90% are buried in dump cells” .
López indicates that “the campaign can be summed up in one sentence: every little thing in its place, separated is prettier.” And he adds: “The real protagonists, those who know the most about this are the containers themselves, and that is why they take the floor.”
