The Festival Department of the La Laguna City Council has arranged a schedule of activities for the morning of December 31, enabling children to bid farewell to 2024 in a grand manner. This Children’s New Year’s Eve celebration will occur between 11:00 and 14:00, at the Plaza de La Navidad located in the El Cristo area.
The Mayor of La Laguna, Luis Yeray Gutiérrez, emphasised that this marks the inaugural edition of the event, stating, “Our aim is to provide the youngsters with a complimentary space for recreation, celebration and play, which will feature music, entertainment, and the gastronomy from various food trucks that have been set up in this part of the city since December 20.”
Dailos González, the Festival Councillor, elaborated that, “From the moment the event commences, we will showcase a significant area filled with inflatable attractions, storytellers, and various live performances taking place on the stage at Plaza del Cristo.” He also reminded attendees that this central lagoon location already has an ice rink free of charge and vehicles associated with major film productions.
Dailos González further mentioned that this year-end festivity, titled Fiestukids, will provide attendees with party favours and a simulation of the year’s farewell, featuring unique bells for the little ones, complete with the traditional grapes and sweets. Scheduled performances include Cantacuentos Güicho Estévez, Mario Falero, and Zumbakids, among other acts.
On December 31, the Plaza de la Navidad will also host the city’s traditional New Year’s Eve celebration, which will feature concerts from 10:30 p.m. until dawn, showcasing groups and artists representing various musical genres.
