This 31st December, Tenerife will host a variety of events geared towards the younger members of the family to celebrate the new year in advance.
In San Cristóbal de La Laguna and Santa Cruz de Tenerife, the festivities will feature free activities and programmes tailored to children’s ages, including workshops, performances, and traditional bell ringing with sweets.
Festukids at Plaza del Cristo
For the first time, La Laguna is organising a Children’s New Year’s Eve celebration in the Plaza del Cristo, where the Plaza de la Navidad is set up this season.
Starting from 11:00 a.m., families can enjoy ‘Fiestukids’, which will feature inflatable attractions, ZumbaKids sessions, performances by CantaCuentos Güicho Estévez and artist Mario Falero from La Voz Kids, along with party favours and the “Lucky Uvigolosinas”.
The highlight of the event will be a recreation of the chimes, offering a dedicated space for boys and girls.
Candy grapes and verbena
In Santa Cruz de Tenerife, the Plaza de La Candelaria will host a children’s celebration organised by the City Council, the Autonomous Organisation for Festivals and Recreational Activities (OAFAR), and the Development Society.
The activities are scheduled between 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. and will include craft workshops, face painting, and interactive activities. There will also be bouncy castles, a photo booth featuring Mickey and Minnie, and musical performances.
The event will culminate at midday with a symbolic welcome to the New Year, featuring traditional gluten-free and sugar-free candy grapes, followed by a children’s festival.
Both celebrations aim to provide family-friendly options that allow children to experience the essence of New Year’s Eve while enhancing the vibrancy of urban areas.
In both La Laguna and Santa Cruz, the activities will be accessible to the public and are part of each municipality’s Christmas programme.
