SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, December 29 (EUROPA PRESS) –

Metrotenerife will ensure that Line 1 of the Tenerife tram remains fully operational during the night of Tuesday, December 31 (New Year’s Eve) through to Wednesday, January 1 (New Year’s Day), with intervals of 15 and 20 minutes.

According to the company, from 11:00 p.m. onwards, trams will conclude their service in Santa Cruz at the Teatro Guimerá stop. This decision is made to prevent traffic in areas close to Plaza España and Iglesia de la Concepción, where various festive events typically take place on New Year’s Eve.

On New Year’s Eve, Tuesday the 31st, Line 1 will run with a frequency of 6 minutes during peak hours, from 07:00 to 15:00.

Following that, the intervals will adjust to 7.5 minutes, then transitioning to 10 minutes until 9:00 p.m. After this time, trams will then operate every 15 to 20 minutes throughout New Year’s Eve into New Year’s Day.

Furthermore, the night service on Line 1 will reduce its route to Teatro Guimerá to avoid disrupting the celebrations at Plaza de España and Iglesia de la Concepción. Consequently, from 11:00 p.m., Teatro Guimerá will be the final stop on Line 1 in Santa Cruz, with Fundación and Intercambiador stops not in service.

For Line 2, the schedules for Tuesday the 31st will be 12, 15, and 20 minutes until the end of service at midnight (24:00 hours).

WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 1, NEW YEAR

The trams on Line 1 will operate throughout the early hours of Wednesday, January 1, New Year’s Day. It is anticipated that service will resume across the entire route of the line by 9:40 a.m. this day, reinstating the Fundación and Santa Cruz Interchange stops.

The service frequencies for this day will follow typical holiday schedules, which are 12, 15, and 30 minutes, depending on the time period.

The company has noted that operations will be specifically affected by the strike conducted by the employees from Monday to Friday during early morning, midday, and evening periods.

During these times, Metrotenerife will maintain operations for lines 1 and 2, ensuring the established minimum service level of 80%.
