The Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council is undertaking the installation of renewable thermal energy systems for domestic hot water across the city’s 15 municipal football pitches, with a total expenditure of 228,480.36 euros. Of this amount, 28%, equating to 64,043.23 euros, has been financed through the European Next Generation funds.

In a statement, the City Council remarked that this initiative will benefit athletes and users of these facilities, ensuring a stable supply of hot water throughout the day, albeit with the exception of days featuring minimal solar exposure.

Furthermore, the mayor, José Manuel Bermúdez, underscored the significance of this initiative as part of the City Council’s dedication to sustainability and the enhancement of sports infrastructure.

“With this installation, we are not only investing in renewable energy but also in a more efficient utilisation of our resources. This venture illustrates the City Council’s commitment to sustainability and the enhancement of public services we provide to our residents, particularly in the area of sports,” he remarked.

The project, segmented into four lots, is set to conclude this December, ensuring that all municipal football pitches will have access to hot water in their changing rooms.

The pitches benefitting from this enhancement are Barranco Grande, El Draguillo, El Sobradillo, El Tablero, Juan Santa María, Los Gladiolos, Santa María del Mar, Tíncer, García Escámez, La Salud Soccer Field, Las Delicias – Las Cabritas Soccer Field, María Jiménez, Llano del Moro, San Joaquín, and Valleseco.
