This Friday, December 27, commencing at 10:00 a.m. in the Plaza Buganvilla de Los Gigantes, the municipality of Santiago del Teide will aim to set a new record by creating the largest nougat in Spain using local ingredients. This event will involve chefs and patissiers from Acyre Canarias, as well as residents, tourists, and journalists connected to the culinary world.
It is important to highlight that this initiative is organised by the Town Hall of the Historical Village of Santiago del Teide in collaboration with the Government of the Canary Islands, the Commerce department of the Island Council of Tenerife, Asemteide, Acyre Canarias, and Alcampo.
Through this event aimed at revitalising the local economy, the council intends to promote our municipality as a gastronomic destination, while also showcasing local culinary products, including the Santiago del Teide almond, which will play a prominent role in the production that will exceed 110 metres in length and comprise 295 kilos of ingredients.
As for the ingredients used in this exceptional creation, the largest nougat in Spain featuring local products will include:
- 60 kilos of dark chocolate.
- 40 kilos of white chocolate.
- 50 kilos of gofio.
- 25 kilos of crispy biscuits.
- 20 kilos of puffed rice.
- 70 kilos of candied bananas.
- 30 kilos of almonds from Santiago del Teide.
At 5:00 p.m., the official measurement of the nougat will be conducted by representatives of Acyre Canarias and the council, followed by its cutting and sampling by attendees.
