The Tenerife Council has announced that the road reopened today, Thursday. Access via the TF-24 (La Esperanza) to Teide National Park has been restored following the completion of work to clear ice sheets.
Consequently, all routes to Teide are now accessible: the TF-21 La Orotava-Vilaflor, the TF-38 Chío, and the TF-24 La Esperanza.
Crews from the Island Corporation’s Highways department have been engaged in recent days to clear snow and ice sheets, while also removing various rocks caused by landslides to ensure the roads’ safety.
The president of the Tenerife Cabildo, Rosa Dávila, urges caution while travelling on these roads and stresses the importance of adhering to signs and instructions from the authorities.
“Our primary concern is safety; this is why we closed the roads, and now that they are open, we ask everyone to exercise caution while travelling,” Dávila highlights.
The island president acknowledges the efforts made by the Highway teams, Environmental agents, and the Security and Emergency personnel from the Cabildo and Teide National Park, alongside the Local Police of La Orotava, Red Cross rescue teams, and the Civil Guard.
