This Monday, Santa Claus’s Grand Parade infused the main streets of La Laguna with joy and festive cheer, particularly among the younger audience. This tradition, making a return after over 60 years, was celebrated with great enthusiasm this afternoon.
“The roots of this procession are tied to a charitable toy collection that took place in the city, initiated by the Orfeón La Paz. This initiative culminated in the Santa Claus figure made from the araucaria tree of La Concepción, which has also reclaimed its place in our city as a symbol of our celebrations,” stated the mayor of La Laguna, Luis Yeray Gutiérrez.
Father and Mother Christmas, along with beloved characters recognizable to children, such as Mickey and Minnie, the Paw Patrol, the Minions, and the Grinch, accompanied by inflatable dolls, festive elves, and various other performers, were part of this parade, which saw around 150 participants.
The parade route included vintage vehicles and a brass band that brought energy to the afternoon, during which over 500 kilos of sweets were handed out.
The procession commenced from the vicinity of La Laguna City Hall, proceeding along Obispo Rey Redondo, Tizón, Herradores, and Viana streets before returning to the arches outside Casa de los Capitanes and concluding on Consistorio street, close to the Plaza del Adelantado.
