The Santa Claus parade will once again make its way through the principal streets of La Laguna on Monday, December 23, commencing at 6:30 p.m.
This custom, which was reinstated last year by the City Council after a hiatus of over sixty years, will once more spread joy and festive cheer, as outlined in a statement from the council this Saturday.
The roots of this iconic procession relate to a charitable toy collection that took place in the city, spurred on by the Orfeón La Paz, which culminated with the beloved figure of Santa Claus from the araucaria tree at La Concepción.
Alongside Santa and Mother Christmas, animated characters familiar to children such as Mickey and Minnie, the Paw Patrol, the Minions, and the Grinch will feature in the parade. Additionally, inflatable figures, Christmas elves, and other performers will join in, bringing the total number of participants to 150.
Route
The procession will be complemented by vintage vehicles and a brass band that will enliven the afternoon, during which more than 500 kilograms of sweets will be handed out.
The route will commence from the vicinity of La Laguna City Hall and will subsequently navigate through Obispo Rey Redondo, Tizón, Herradores, and Viana streets before returning to the arches at Casa de los Capitanes, concluding on Consistorio street, near the Plaza del Adelantado.
