SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE 19 December (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Cabildo of Tenerife, via the Primary Sector department, has ratified a collaborative agreement with the Fasnia City Council to establish a farmer’s market within the municipality, situated in the Los Roques neighbourhood.

The councillor, Valentín González, elaborates in a statement that this initiative intends to “provide a gathering point for local producers and consumers for the sale of fresh products,” ultimately aiming to “boost the local economy, enhance the value of local goods and invigorate the southeastern area of the island.”

The overall budget for the project amounts to 4,267,487.34 euros, with the Cabildo covering 3,167,487.34 euros in two annual payments, while the Government of the Canary Islands contributes an additional 1,100.00 euros.

The councillor emphasises that “this infrastructure is strategically positioned, very close to the southern motorway,” and thanks to this agreement, not only will there be a market, but also a facility for the Agency of Agrarian Extension, which will be owned by the island, a training room for agricultural education, local product promotion and innovation, as well as an information office for the Cabildo.

González concludes that “this project epitomises a strong commitment to revitalising Tenerife’s primary sector, empowering small-scale farmers and bridging the rural economy with local consumers, thereby promoting sustainable and equitable development across the island.”
