Plans for additional lanes on the two motorways – TF-1 (South) and TF-5 (North) – in the immediate future, alongside guided transport options such as trains, particularly in the South, for a longer-term approach. These were the primary solutions proposed yesterday to tackle the persistent traffic congestions on Tenerife. In conjunction with these significant proposals, representatives from various administrations underscored the importance of coordinated planning and prioritising the numerous outstanding infrastructure projects on the Island. This was all discussed during the EL DÍA forum on Mobility held yesterday at the Iberostar Grand Mencey Hotel, sponsored by the Arona City Council and the Vice-Ministry of Infrastructure of the Government of the Canary Islands. The conversation, focusing on regional, insular, and municipal levels, featured insights from journalist Lucía Mora from Prensa Ibérica, along with Francisco González, vice-counselor; Dámaso Arteaga, CEO of Highways of the Cabildo de Tenerife; Fátima Lemes, mayor of Arona; and Héctor Reyes, Arona councilor for Education and Local Police, Urban Mobility, Traffic, and Road Safety.
