The Department of Works and Infrastructure of La Laguna City Council initiated a series of discussions yesterday with shopkeepers and representatives from local businesses and neighbourhoods to outline the specifics of the canalisation project for the Carnicería ravine, with construction set to commence throughout January 2025.
The councillor overseeing this area, Ángel Chinea, took part in the first meeting alongside technical personnel from his department. He emphasised that “the aim of this initiative is to present the potential impacts that this project will have on the establishments and residences situated between Plaza del Adelantado and Nava y Grimón Street, particularly concerning detours and road closures, while seeking alternatives to mitigate these disruptions.”
“This is a significantly important project for all citizens of La Laguna, serving as an essential preliminary step for the establishment of the municipal market, which will eventually return to its original location,” commented the councillor, expressing gratitude in advance for the positive attitude and constructive dialogue from all attendees.
These discussions commenced yesterday and are set to continue throughout the week. In addition, the City Council has opened other channels of communication to address requests and suggestions from various community groups once the construction begins.
On December 10, the agreement for the canalisation works for the Carnicería ravine, specifically in the Gonzaliández stretch between El Roque road and the Palace of Justice, was finalised with the company Asch Infraestructuras y Servicios, SA, which has been allocated a period of 21 months to execute the planned actions.
