The Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council has announced, at 5:30 p.m. today, the deactivation of the Municipal Emergency Plan (PEMU) and the reinstatement of extracurricular, sports, and cultural activities organised by the municipality that had been suspended since December 14.

This decision follows an update from the Canary Islands Government, via the General Directorate of Emergencies, regarding the wind and maximum alert situation in the western islands, which has now transitioned to a pre-alert status. Consequently, school activities will recommence tomorrow in Santa Cruz.

Since the signing of the PEMU deactivation order, activities have resumed at municipal outdoor sports facilities, along with all events organised or authorised by the Santa Cruz City Council in public areas, including the Christmas markets set to take place in Alameda del Duke Santa Elena and around Plaza de España.

The maximum alert status concerning winds has concluded in the capital, with minimal repercussions, primarily involving a handful of incidents related to the collapse of construction fencing, Christmas decorations, minor branches, and a traffic light impacted by the wind.
