The mastermind behind this initiative, the director of Mírame TV, Manuel Artiles, made an accurate prediction. Once again, and there have been several occasions before, the residents of the Island showcased their generosity by overflowing Mercatenerife with donations of food, toys, clothing, and pet supplies, as part of the Solidarity Telemarathon, which has become a cherished tradition in the lead-up to Christmas. So much so that thousands of contributions were already confirmed in the afternoon by Artiles himself along with the president of the Cabildo, Rosa Dávila, marking a moment of joy for completing the mission. The objective of aiding 40,000 Canarians – with the donations reaching other islands through two shipping companies and food banks – including 6,000 children who survive on merely 500 euros a month, has been fulfilled thanks to the involvement of businesses, organisations, and institutions, as well as individuals who played their part in this important cause. It was a perfect score with 12 out of 12 in the twelfth edition. The alignment of auspicious numbers proved to be a reliable indicator of success.
