The Association for the Social and Labor Inclusion of People with Different Intellectual Abilities, Asinladi, has worked this year on the project I want to be independent and I can 2021, with which it cares for 30 people and encourages their training so that they can join job placement projects. This initiative has the financial support of the Cabildo de Tenerife, through the Insular Institute of Social and Social Health Care (IASS), which this year has allocated 77,500 euros to this organization.
For Asinladi, this collaboration, which materializes through the Insular Ring of Social Policies, is essential to carry out a project that, as indicated, is essential for the development of these people in society. “Essential aspects are worked on to achieve personal autonomy, such as money management or time management,” they explain from the entity.

Although this project has been developed during the year 2021, Asinladi and the IASS have been working hand in hand since 2017. During this time the association has pursued the objective of providing young people with intellectual disabilities with the tools, skills and abilities necessary to develop a adequate interaction in their environment, thus favoring their participation in society and helping them to have an independent life.
From the IASS they consider that the objectives pursued by this entity respond to a concern that is usually common for the members of this group: the possibility of achieving full autonomy. For this reason, they value the work of Asinladi staff, professionals who have known how to adapt to different contexts and who, during the health crisis, have incorporated interventions that are more adjusted to the situation. An example is training in the use of new technologies “so that the reality that we now live in does not suppose another reason for exclusion for people with intellectual disabilities.”
