Granadilla PSOE Calls Regalado’s Remarks “Unfortunate”

The socialist spokesman in Granadilla de Abona, David Santos, responded yesterday to remarks made by his nationalist counterpart, José Domingo Regalado, who branded the Granadilla government as “arrogant, deceitful and destructive.” David Santos believes that both the tone and the manner adopted by the representative of the Canary Coalition resemble “a child’s tantrum” more than the comments of a public official “with a modicum of seriousness and respect.”

Santos contends that Regalado’s statements aim to “maintain cohesion within his political party amid rumours suggesting a potential shift in leadership due to the poor electoral results and the loss of municipal governance in Granadilla de Abona.”

In this context, David Santos highlights that the nationalist leader is struggling to accept that he is no longer the mayor, which translates into such statements, to which “we are, unfortunately, already accustomed.” Nevertheless, Santos expresses hope that, as time progresses, “Mr. Regalado will return to a path of reason, respect, and healthy disagreement.”

David Santos asserted that Granadilla de Abona “is moving forward with a firm and resolute stride towards becoming a municipality with improved services and infrastructure,” mentioning projects such as modular parking in El Médano, the development of the northwest sector in San Isidro, the establishment of a Professional Training Centre in the Industrial Estate, the Las Vegas astronomical viewpoint, and the expansive Sotavento park.

Regarding urban planning, Santos conveyed his “astonishment” as the CC spokesperson “appears to overlook that during 2022, he only resolved four files, whereas in one year of the PSOE-PP government, 34 have been addressed.”

In terms of security, he emphasised the inauguration of the San Isidro complaints office and the impending creation of a “canine unit.” In the realm of education, the spokesperson noted that “in this past year and a half of governance, we have ensured that scholarships are disbursed at the start of the academic year, rather than at the end, as was previously the case.” In cultural affairs and festivities, he remembered that “in the initial four months of 2023, CC had already exhausted the entire budget allocated for the entire year.”
