Exciting Weekend Adventures in Tenerife!

Tenerife remains brimming with weekend activities through a collective public and private initiative aimed at promoting leisure on the Island. From festive Christmas celebrations to sports and literary events, if you were contemplating a quiet weekend at home, now is the time to check your wardrobe because you won’t want to miss out on these happenings:

Cinema

Exciting Weekend Adventures in Tenerife!

This weekend, TEA Tenerife Espacio de las Artes will screen at 7:00 p.m.,Gondola, the latest creation from German director Veit Helmer, whose films have won numerous awards and recognitions at prestigious international festivals such as Cannes, Sitges, Sundance, Seminci, Gijón, and Tokyo. Continuing in his tradition of poetic cinema devoid of dialogue, where music, sounds, expressions, and settings play a significant narrative role, Gondola whisks viewers away to the stunning and majestic Adjara valley mountains in Georgia, where they bear witness to the encounter between two young gondola-operating stewardesses aboard an aged cable car linking a remote village to the nearest city.

Christmas in Santa Cruz

The capital of chicharreros has kicked off its Christmas event programme, featuring activities across the city. This Saturday, at 6:00 p.m., the Plaza de la Candelaria will host Expobandas 2024, a project initiated by the Tenerife Federation of Music Bands that seeks to promote various musical groups from different parts of the island. Furthermore, at 7:30 p.m., the 7 Islas Community Centre in El Sobradillo will present theAlcoran Christmas Carol Festival.

On Sunday, at Espacio El Molino in Barranco Grande, the El Molino Christmas Carol Festival will occur at 7:30 p.m.

Stories

The Silos Story Festival wraps up its 2024 edition this weekend with a diverse array of activities, including storytelling for infants amidst the banana trees, as well as book presentations. All scheduled activities for this Saturday and Sunday can be found here.

Dramatized routes

This weekend, La Laguna celebrates a new edition of its dramatized routes to mark the 25th anniversary of the city’s designation as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This time, the initiative isLa Laguna, the pillory and with the hammer giving, allowing participants to explore life, justice systems, and punishment methods from the early 16th century.

The routes will commence from Plaza de Los Remedios (adjacent to the Cathedral) and offer a guided tour through the historic district without the need for prior registration. Scheduled times are Saturday at 11:00 and 18:00, and Sunday at 11:00.

Sport

The weekend sporting event featuresThe Tenerife Lagoon, who will face off against Hiopos Lleida in an Endesa League match at the Santiago Martín Pavilion. The game is set to start at 7:45 p.m.
