Arona illuminated its festive decorations last night in the Plaza del Santísimo Cristo de la Salud, located in the municipal area. The southern local authority has organised numerous activities that will take place across all neighbourhoods and population centres until 6 January. Coinciding with the lighting ceremony, the Christmas song was also unveiled, featuring nearly a hundred participants, along with the distribution of festive sweets and a fireworks display. Meanwhile, towns such as Valle San Lorenzo, where the countdown to Christmas has a unique charm, continue with their Afternoons of Chestnuts, Sweets and Wines, celebrating its main event today.

ADEJE
The festivities in the neighbouring municipality of Adeje commenced yesterday at 8:00 p.m., marked by the blessing of the grand nativity scene and the illumination of Christmas lights in the Plaza de España. Among the prominent activities leading up to Three Kings Day, the traditional Christmas Concert stands out, scheduled for 20 December, featuring the band from the Musical Board of the Historic Villa of Adeje, the folkloric groups from the municipality, and the School of Music Dance and Performing Arts.

Before this, from 3 to 20 December, the San Juan association hosts its annual Christmas market, open in the afternoons from Monday to Friday and in the mornings during the weekends. This provides an opportunity to discover a variety of gifts while contributing to a charitable cause, as noted by the City Council.

Additionally, the Adeje auditorium will present a diverse programme suitable for all audiences, including concerts such as Los Sabandeños, on Saturday, 14 December at 8:30 p.m., and the much-anticipated Powerhouse Góspel Choir performance scheduled for the 21st.

PASSION FRUIT
Granadilla de Abona will celebrate its “Storybook Christmas” with an extensive programme starting today with a lighting ceremony in González Mena Square. The City Council has coordinated over 75 activities for everyone across all areas of the municipality, lasting until the eve of Three Kings Day.

For 37 days, the streets of Granadilla de Abona will be alive with tales, concerts, workshops, festivals, children’s performances, parades, exhibitions, charitable events, routes, and various sporting and commercial activities. The gospel will also feature prominently with a concert scheduled for Friday, 30 December, at the Convent church. Furthermore, the City Council highlights the charitable toy collection on Sunday the 22nd at the SIEC auditorium, the San Silvestre Medanera race on Sunday the 29th, alongside concerts by the Sociedad Cultural José Reyes Martín music band, de la Parranda, and the New Year’s Eve celebrations.

SAN MIGUEL DE ABONA
The San Miguel de Abona City Council has put together a comprehensive programme to mark the Christmas festivities within the municipality, featuring more than thirty activities for all audiences, including performances, workshops, sporting and cultural events. The programme kicked off yesterday in the Plaza de la Constitución with the illumination of Christmas lights, an event enriched by live music, a craft fair, and various initiatives to support local businesses.

The schedule, running until 5 January, includes significant events like Your Neighbourhood at Christmas, featuring bouncy castles, children’s workshops, and royal pages collecting letters in various locations across the municipality, concerts, a charitable toy collection from 29 November to 20 December, the traditional Diverludo, and several sports and charitable activities.

SANTIAGO DEL TEIDE
Santiago del Teide’s Christmas programme boasts a total of 50 events from 30 November to 6 January, including the illumination of festive lights, the Los Cantadores concert, New Year’s Eve celebrations at Los Gigantes, and the Three Kings Parade. Noteworthy also is the gastronomic event Un Acantilado de Sabores, featuring the creation of Spain’s largest nougat on 14 December in the Plaza Buganvilla de Los Gigantes, as well as the commercial campaign A Closer Christmas.
