A canoe carrying 68 migrants of sub-Saharan descent – 67 males and one female – has been apprehended at dawn this Friday in waters close to El Hierro, according to sources from Maritime Rescue as reported by Europa Press.
The vessel was situated near the port of La Restinga, and the Salvamar Acrux was dispatched to rendezvous with it, providing escort until it reached the dock.
The migrants received care from personnel from the SUC, Primary Care, and the Red Cross, and were generally reported to be in good health, with no individuals requiring hospital transfer.
