The council of Arona is set to inaugurate the Christmas festivities with a lighting ceremony themed “Arona, illuminate Christmas with you”. This occasion will occur on Friday, November 29, at 6:00 p.m. in the Plaza del Santísimo Cristo de la Salud, in the historic centre of Arona. The event marks the beginning of an extensive revitalisation initiative lasting until January 6, 2025.
The gathering will commence with a family-oriented revitalisation phase, followed by the official lighting at 8:00 p.m.. This segment will feature the premiere of a Christmas song, alongside a performance that involves 90 artists, including dancers, singers, a dixie band, jugglers, and other visual acts, enhanced by special effects and fireworks. Additionally, there will be traditional Christmas treats and various snacks available.
The Children’s Queen of Arona, Yolanda Rodríguez García, will grace the event as the special guest.
The municipality has adorned itself with nearly 2,000 decorative items, featuring various shapes and colours. This includes hanging adornments, intricate light curtains, motifs for arches and lamp posts, along with nativity scene figures, angels, and wise men. These decorations will be showcased across all populated areas of the municipality, creating a festive atmosphere.
Further Activities
The schedule incorporates events across diverse municipal sectors and will unfold throughout Arona. Highlights include the Christmas Posadas, New Year’s Eve celebrations for both children and adults, cultural festivals hosted by the Culture Board, and numerous activities in Open Commercial Zones aimed at bolstering local commerce. The campaign will conclude with the cherished Parade of the Three Wise Men from the East.
This initiative aspires not only to maintain and emphasise the municipality’s cultural and festive traditions but also to establish Arona as a focal point for leisure and Christmas activities in Tenerife. With a varied selection intended for both residents and visitors, the goal is to affirm the municipality as a central hub for dynamism and festivities during this season.
