The Gallega region, situated in the southwest area of Santa Cruz, is progressing towards the establishment of one hundred new protected private dwellings, with an average rental price of 400 euros. The area advisor for the Government of the Canary Islands, Pablo Rodríguez, visited one of the model apartments in one of the two developments being undertaken by the public company Visocan in the municipality, where he stated, “We anticipate that the properties will be available during the first half of 2025.”

The construction of both developments has required an investment exceeding 11 million euros. The site that was toured has a budget of 5.8 million euros and will comprise 50 two- and three-bedroom residences, with dimensions ranging from 80 to 90 square metres. Additionally, it will feature two dwellings adapted for individuals with reduced mobility (PMR), 50 parking spots, 50 storage units, and photovoltaic systems for electricity consumption in communal areas, as well as aerothermal technology for providing hot water to the residences.

“Once construction is finalised, the 100 homes will be incorporated into the pool of over 6,200 protected private properties managed by Visocan, under an affordable rental scheme, aimed at alleviating the housing shortfall that the Canary Islands are currently facing,” remarked Rodríguez yesterday.

The visit also included the presence of the president of the Cabildo, Rosa Dávila, the mayor, José Manuel Bermúdez, and the manager of Visocan, Javier Terán, among others.
