The Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council is undertaking rigorous cleaning of the municipality’s ravines to prevent overflow during rainy periods, mitigate fire hazards, and hinder the proliferation of pests and invasive species.
In a statement, the city authorities emphasise the significance of these “preventive actions”, particularly following incidents like the dana that affected Valencia and other towns in Spain, along with the increased likelihood of rainfall ahead of the onset of the wet season.
This sentiment has been echoed by the Councillor for Public Services, Carlos Tarife, who has also underscored the essential role of community cooperation in maintaining public and natural environments.
“Regrettably, we continue to find discarded items and litter in various parts of our city, which can pose serious threats to residents in the event of flooding or fire,” he asserted.
