SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE Nov. 22 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The president of the Canary Islands Government, Fernando Clavijo, resumed the discussions surrounding the ‘Canary Pact for Immigration’ this Friday – from which Vox has once again distanced itself – and asserted that the “sole solution” in the short term to enhance the support for migrant minors on the islands is the amendment of article 35 of the immigration legislation.
In comments made to journalists following a meeting with parliamentary spokespeople, he emphasised that it is “crucial” for there to be a “sit-in” between the two principal state parties and even hinted that two meetings are being considered prior to the Conference of Presidents scheduled for December 13 in Cantabria.
“We need to come together, we must provide those boys and girls with an opportunity and also offer the Canary Islands a chance, as the pressure remains, and while we endure and endure, the pressure is untenable,” he remarked.
