The Ministry of Public Works, Housing and Mobility of the Government of the Canary Islands, via the Vice-Ministry of Infrastructure, has announced the commencement of the public information period regarding the project entitled ‘TF-5, La Laguna road network. Section: Connection with the TF-13, Mesa Mota-Gorgolana’ tunnel. This project will be situated within the municipalities of La Laguna and Tegueste, on the island of Tenerife.

Individuals wishing to submit remarks, observations, or inquiries will have a timeframe of 30 working days to do so.

To assist with accessing all pertinent information about the project, documentation can be reviewed on the Ministry’s website at the following link: https://www.gobiernodecanarias.org/obraspublicas/carreteras/….

Moreover, in a digital format, the information will be available at the headquarters in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, located on Avenida Francisco de la Roche, 35.

In adherence to current regulations, any observations, remarks, or inquiries must be directed to the aforementioned Vice-Ministry and may be submitted via the electronic registry available to citizens.

This initiative, which stems from the Special Territorial Plan of the Metropolitan Area Road System, involves a layout project for a tunnel that will connect the Northeast Region of Tenerife with the metropolitan area.

Over 20,000 vehicles each day will no longer have their movements hindered by delays encountered at the so-called Las Canteras microroundabout.

Through this action on the TF-13 motorway, access traffic to the Anaga natural area and various localities in the La Laguna municipality will be segregated from regional traffic, significantly benefiting the communities of La Punta del Hidalgo, Bajamar, Tejina, Tegueste, and Valle de Guerra, which collectively house more than 25,000 residents.

The Mesa Mota-Gorgolana tunnel project has been awarded to the UTE Ayesa Ingeniería y Arquitectura, SAU; MLH Engineers, IC3.

The undertaking is focused on overcoming the elevation of Mesa Mota, a geographical landmark that marks the municipal boundary between these boroughs. The design features a tunnel comprising two separate lanes, each measuring 1,050 metres, connecting two points along the TF-13 highway and facilitating roadway interactions with the Vía de Ronda lagunera and the insular TF-13 highway in the vicinity of the San Bernabé slope.
